| Cashier Location: On-site PORTLAND Schedule: Part time/flexible Weekends Contact: gary@peerlessplace.com Ask any of our cashiers which job they like best during a sale? They’ll answer, “being a cashier of course!” No easy job. If you shop our sales, and watch us carefully, you’ll see how we keep stay organized, work efficiently, and follow consistent procedures – all to keep our checkout lines short and our customers happy! Cashiers typically work sale hours Friday through Sunday – all or some of the days depending on their personal schedules. Since we work all over the city, our POS Manager will sometimes schedule the cashier who lives closest to the sale whenever possible to reduce travel. Cashiers typically arrive one hour early on opening day of the sale to become familiar with the new “store” and the new merchandise, but arrives just in time to open on second or final days of the sale. After we close for the day, cashiers are responsible for closing out their register, recording transaction details, reconciling cash/check/merchant card sales, and balancing the drawer. Requires high energy, confidence, great people skills, customer service work history, and strong attention to details and organization in our fast-paced selling environment. Must have reliable transportation and strong math skills; be a fast learner, able to lift 30 pounds, and have history of being a reliable team player. |

We do not “play the ball where it lies.” Now merchandising is a labor of love. The most glamorous of all the positions we offer…and the people who do it, wouldn’t trade their jobs for anything! It’s the digging and the hauling. The sorting and the tossing. The washing and the drying. This is a very self-managed position for the right people. The Project Manager expects experienced merchandisers to work efficiently and effectively – managing the balance between task and time. Every project is different, but every project has one thing in common: the sale is going to open on time ready or not…and we’re always ready no matter what it takes to maintain consistent high quality standards of merchandising and presentation. If it’s dirty, we clean it. If you wear it, we hang it. If it’s valuable, we move it to the front. If it’s trash…you get a second opinion! If you’re someone who just loves old things and sorting through history, this job may or may not be for you. There’s simply no time to get romantic with everything you pick up. We handle thousands of pieces a week so there isn’t time to handle something more than once. If you can manage your collector’s interest within the scope of your responsibility, you can pick it up, appreciate it, process it, price it* and place it. There simply isn’t anything more rewarding than the amazing transformations that take place from a [house full of stuff] to a [store full of merchandise] – not to mention how impressed our Client’s are with our overwhelming achievements. *pricing ability based on personal level of training, knowledge, experience, and core study. Related experience varies for consideration in this position. In-house catering is a great background from the perspective of blending routine with customized service as well as managing the balance between using the space available to suit the job and providing room for efficient, effective and safe customer traffic. Our cashiers actually become well-prepared to be merchandisers because they come to the job with great experience about what people buy, and how much they pay for it. Reliable transportation and attendance, strong work ethic, ability to lift 30 pounds, and background check are required. |
